The example here shows how to find the split of flow between two parallel pipes. The goal is to find a value for Q1, so that H1-H2=0, i.e. the headloss across the parallel pipes is the same.

To invoke the Goal Seek command, follow the steps below.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Goal Seek.
  2. In the Set cell box, enter the reference for the cell that contains the formula you want to solve.
  3. In the To value box, type the result you wanted.
  4. In the By changing cell box, enter the reference for the cell that contains the value you want to adjust.
