Download and installation
If you have not installed a TclTk, you may down load the TclTk package
from http://www.scriptics.com
or ftp://ftp.scriptics.com/pub/tcl
and install a TclTk package first. You may also have to install the
latest versions of Windows OpenGL
and DirectX
(version 7.0 or later).
Down load specific DLLs: Choose
a TclTk version, down load one of the DLL files (xbit76_401.zip,
xbit80_401.zip,
xbit81_401.zip,
xbit82_401.zip,
xbit83_401.zip
or xbit84_401.zip)
Down load general script libraries, bitmaps and
documents: down load xbitlib_401.zip
(required),
xbitdoc_401.zip (required), imagery0.zip
(recommended), imagery1.zip (recommended) and
imagery2.zip
(recommended).
XBIT 4.0 Installation: choose and create
a XBit home directory, and unzip all the downloaded zip files in it. To
run XBit, one may starts a command line in the XBit home directory, e.g.,
wish84 xbitInit.tcl
The above command line will start an XBit console application.
License
An XBit Software License Agreement file
is included in the distribution for a free non-commercial use of XBit 4.01.
To use XBit 4.01 for commercial applications, an additional license option
file is required. There are five different types of license option files:
1) Basic image processing options;
2) Analytical image FFT processing options;
3) GIS application options;
4) Remote Sensing application options;
5) Full options;
License option files define different XBit software products for different
applications. Free-trial license option files are available upon request.
No license option files is required for non-commercial use of XBit 4.0.
The distribution has all the functions specified in license option files
1 through 4, but is subject to the following restrictions:
Image dimension limits: 640 * 512
Image band number limits: 7
FFT image dimension limits: 256 * 256
OpenGL object item limits: 196608 (256 * 256 * 3)
GLM object vertex limits: 8192
XBit window widget (gcanvas, glw, ddw) size limits: 640 * 480
Gcanvas item limits: 1024
To request a free-trial license
option file: A license option file is created and digitally
signatured using a device-specific signature (DSS). A user must provide
DSS in order to create a license option file. A user may run XBit
command xbit.license dss to find a DSS and then send an e-mail to
chengye.geo@yahoo.com
with the DSS to request a free-trial license option file. To simply
this procedure, a user may invoke Help/License/Request A License Option
File from the XBit console's help menu.
