Reasons why this happens:
Connection is Corrupted
- My Computer, Dial-Up Networking, Right-Click on
the Connection and then select Delete (before doing this you might
want to go through the properties, and make sure that you have all the
information, you may need to create a new connection after you delete the
current one)
Dialer is Corrupted: (easiest to check)
- Open My Computer, Open Dial-Up Networking, Open the Connection
for your *ISP and click on Connect if you get the same error,
continue with DUN is not installed
DUN is not installed/Un/Re-installing DUN:
- Get your Windows CD or *Find the win*.cab files (look
below Get Paid To Surf to learn how to find)
- Next: Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel. Open the Icon labeled Add Remove Programs
- Click the tab Windows Setup (windows 98 will load the settings)
- Highlight Communications and select Details
- Make sure DUN is checked! (usually the first item ) (go to 6 if
not) if so, Uncheck it and click on OK (it might say that it
is needed by other components, write those down and you can install them
later in the next step) when back at the main section that has
Communications click on Apply (go to 7)
- If it wasn't checked then Check it! click on OK, then Apply
(go to 8)
- When it is done, highlight Communications select Details
and Check DUN (and other components as well) click OK, Apply
- Click on OK (last time in add remove prgms) Click OK for
the msg "You will need to restart when add remove prgms is
complete" basically after that is done, you will want to
- Click on Start, Shut Down, Restart
- And we are done, Try again. If that doesn't work, you might just want to
try calling your *ISP because I'm sure they will have more
information then can be found here.
