It should be said at the outset that no-one played as well as they might. However it was a measure of everyone's skill and determination that the result was always in contention; right to the final hole. But in the end it was Ned, voted most improved player [and best looking], who overcame the Herculean efforts of the others and emerged victorious!

On this form Ned must be red hot favorite for the 2002 Cornawilla Cup, although there will be at least two new competitors eager to usurp his crown. Gavin Murtagh from Nairobi Kenya and Helen Murtagh from Essex England and . . . late news . . . Gerry Murtagh from New York City! The venue has still to be decided for 2002 and although Ned who lives in Boston has winner's choice, popular sentiment indicates a preference towards Soda Bread, Guinness, and Black Bush Whiskey again next year! |
