How to connect to the Internet? 

You will need the following: 

1. A Computer 
    - A 286s to a Pentium II or Macintosh 
    - Modem (for Dialup connection) ; the faster the better 

2. An Internet Account
(to be obtain from Internet Service Provider like Jaring and TmNet) 

3. A telephone line 

4. Internet softwares (Netscape, Internet Explorer, Eudora…etc)

What types of connections are available? 

Mainly there are: 

1. Dialup - needs a modem to dial to the server to access the 
    Internet. 

2. Dedicated - permanently wired to the Internet 

Dedicated connection is much faster than Dialup connection. Most personal computer users go for Dialup connection at their respective homes.

Where can I apply for an Internet account in Malaysia?  

1. Jaring (MIMOS) -http://www.jaring.my/jaring  

2. TmNet (Telekom Malaysia Berhad) -http://www.tm.net.my
