VardaHalli has the Ashram of Sri Sridhar Swamy. Its atop the hill and has a calm, cool and serene atomosphere. There are lot of disciples
and devotes (mainly from the neighbouring Maharastra state) visiting this place. This was the place where the sage Sri Sridhar Swamy meditated.
His samadhi is also located at this place. A vedic school is also located at this place.
Kalasi stone temple. It contains pillars with exquisite designs. In some
of the pillars you see images inverted, flattened, elongated and so on.
Marikamba temples and Marikamba Fair. The temple located in the centre of the town is
in the shape of a chariot. A fair is held once in every three years.
Ninasam (Nilakanteshwara Natya Sangha), the pioneers of experimental theatre in India, especially Karnataka. are located at a village called Heggodu in Sagar. Its managed by KV Subbanna, the magassasay award winner for arts.

Yakshagana is a traditional form of dance-drama which is held throughout the night.
This form of art is practiced mainly in Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada & Shimoga
districts. Its known as the cultural heritage of Karnataka. The Yakshagana troupe
tour around various places specially in the summer season. The performance is carried
out in the night and goes on till next day morning. Its characteristics include
a main controller called Bhagavatar who controls the performance. He sings songs
and carries on the performance. He is accompanied by lot of instrumentalists. The
actual dance and conversation is carried out by artistes. The main themes are picked

VISITING/HOW TO REACH
From Bangalore, SAGAR is connected by Road & Rail. The Railway service is temporarily
stopped pending upgradation. Many government and private luxury coaches ply between
Bangalore and Sagar. You can even hire private taxis. The distance is around 373 Km
and takes around 8hrs by bus. The luxury Bus journey costs approximately Rs 200 (USD 6).
Note : These buses, in general, are not air-conditioned (its generally cooler in the nights)

People are generally peace-loving and helpful in nature. They are also known for interest
in arts and architecture.
LANGUAGE, USE OF ENGLISH AND MANAGING THE WAY AROUND
In most locations, one can easily manage in English. Many of the sign-baords and shop
names are in English as well. But the people of this speak mainly Kannada the language
