Documentation

Here is some old documentation (lots of verbage) which I used to have on shadow (my favorite machine). It is the most complete of any documentation so far.
Here is some newer documentation which includes images. This was from a presentation that I made for a version of the game that had a genetic learning algorithm included (07Dec1999, CS5350, U of U). Here's the text that I placed with it when I first placed it on the web:
Today (07Dec1999), I had to give a presentation for my machine learning project (CS5350, Fall 1999, U of U). As I know that I couldn't possibly demonstrate the basics of the game in my allotted time, I created a handout for people to read if they are at all interested in what I am doing. At the end of class, my handouts drifted back to me. I made 25 copies, kept 1, and 7 were returned to me. I assume that the rest ended up in the trash outside or something. Anyways, I think I did a reasonable job on the handout (much better than I did with the presentation), so it's available right here. This explains the basis for the game, and my approach at the genetic algorithm that I was using for the project.
If you are thinking about downloading "The Game" (below) you may want to read at least part of this.

Playable Versions

DOS

The Game Version 0.9b (original DOS version, approx. 45k) is now here. It requires DOS, minimal VGA, a 286 or better, and a mouse (with driver installed). I am currently writing a new version which will use the information learned by "The Genetic Game," which I wrote for my machine learning project. The new version will require a platform with the gtk-- libraries installed.
If you are interested, there are some older versions (just slightly different):
Version 0.9a (approx. 43k)
Version 0.99 (approx. 45k)

Here is another version written by Craig, Kent, and Blaine, which they entitled Jump and Grow (approx 61K).
They gave me permission to post it on the web a LONG time ago, and I have since lost contact with them. If anyone knows where to find them, let me know, so I can give them proper credit.
