I have tried to provide a correct copy of the census, but with all transcriptions there are most likely errors.  Some names were very hard to read, and I interpreted them to the best of my ability.  You might study a name and come to a different conclusion.  My census transcriptions as well as the information I provide with links, are my understanding of the data.  But you are responsible for your own conclusions and I encourage you to verify the information I have shared. My desire to present a correct record of these families outweighs my ego, so please do not hesitate to question my information and share your conclusions with me---jaf

Jno. P. Scrivner 32 M KY

Godfrey Isaacs married Emily Crawford about 1846, probably in Owsley County. Godfrey was the son of Godfrey Isaacs and Betsy Howard. Emily was the daughter of Joseph Crawford and Nancy Gray. Owsley County VR: son W.T. born 28 May 1850; daughter Cordelia born 8 Feb 1852 in Estill County, but recorded in Owsley County; daughter Marvilla [Mary F] born 11th or 14th of June 1854; un-named female born 11 Sept 1858. This family appeared in the 1850 census of Madison County with a 3 year old James and a 3 month old Mary.

Jno P. Scrivner and his wife Serilda appear at the bottom of page 229, and Godfrey and family are at the top of page 230.  However, there is not a new household number or family number by Godfrey's name, so it seems that the Isaacs were living with the Scrivners.  However it is possible that the lack of a separate number is simply an oversight by the census taker.

John Lakes married Rutha Clemons 21 October 1841 in Madison County. Frederick Clemmons was listed as the father of the bride. William Hill, who married Margaret Lakes, a sister of John’s, was the bondsman. John was the son of Timothy Lakes and Rebecca Jones. Rutha Clemons was the daughter of Frederick Clemons and Nancy Hunter. Madison Co. VR: son John born 10 October 1852.  At first I thought that Owen might have been mistakenly listed as 4 rather than 4/12.  But there was an Owen Lakes born to John's brother Robert and his wife Sally Clemons, "Madison Co. VR: Owen born 23 December 1856" and a 14 year old Owen was living with Robert and Sally Lakes in 1870, while there the 1870 census did not list a son Owen for John and Ruth Lakes.  On that basis, I think Owen was the nephew of John and Ruth Lakes.
