Mission Impossible

Tom Cuise is on another impossible mission RealMedia Mission Impossible sees Tom Cruise return to his hero type of character. Cruise's intensity carries this movie along as the characters never really develop and the plot is very confusing.

Mission Impossible is based on the television series though it bears little resemblance to it. The movie starts off with a team of computer hackers and secret agents trying to sabotage a foreign embassy banquet. They are there to find stolen files which reveal the secret identities of Impossible Missions Force agents. The plan turns sour when all the team members are killed, except for Ethan Hunt (Cruise), who left to figure out who the double agent was.

There are a lot of good individual scenes, one involving breaking into CIA headquarters, with sensitive alarms that will go off even if a drop of sweat hits the floor. In this scene, Ethan accomplishes his mission with nanoseconds to spare and just when he think he is all clear, an accident happens and we get a terrific escape scene. The fantastic technology, such as micro cameras and lots of computer hacking are also interesting to watch.

Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and Emmenuelle Beart (Claire) were particularly captivating. Mission Impossible leads up to the spectacular conclusion after several double crosses, the enemy turns out to be the person you would least expect. One of the final scenes where Ethan rides on top of a rocket fast train while being chased by a helicopter is fantastic and is typical of the stunts and special effects of the whole movie.
