Monday, April 07, 2008 Right and Wrong I once learned right and wrong Ate of the Tree of Knowledge Learned it from my parents And reinforced in college Do good and I’d go to heaven Do bad and I’d go to hell For the possible gray spots Purgatory as well Only one God Only one Good Right was good they told me Wrong was bad for sure Dichotomy thinking Was how we knew we were Then culture hit me in the face Other people didn’t think the same What was right in one man’s culture Elsewhere led one to blame Only one God Only one Good What absolute ethic? Relativism heresy Could we all agree on something? What truth would set us free? Couldn’t there be something different? Another point of view perchance We could just take a breather Then learn a new dance Only one God Only one Good Studied metaphysics Holmes said something new Logical and simple Irrefutably true All there was, was good No bad anywhere in sight Judgment left the equation Only good could be right Only one God Only one Good What worked now was called right What did not was wrong Looking at results Would make our conviction strong Missing the mark was sin Whatever mark we could set Now we had criteria Everyone could get Only one God Only one Good So I look with new eyes Results are my new measure Whatever my objective Whatever is my pleasure Right is objective Wrong is as well Good and bad are gone There is no more hell Only one God Only one Good A Treatment in Couplets Aleleuia alleleuia alleleuia alleleu One World, One Spirit, One Mind flowing through Through me it flows without a pause My own mind in it connects with cause All perfect health I know is mine Perfect wealth for the rest of time Relationships in harmony Self-expression here for me I feel the joy of all this wonder For everyone -- it’s never plunder I release my Word into the soil To do its hidden, virtuous toil Infinite creation by the One As I have spoken, so it is done.
