Sunday, August 19, 2007 10:53:19 PM It's a trade-off. I haven't been blogging much in the past year, but then I notice that I didn't blog that much in previous years, either. I have written 445 reviews for Yelp!, which is now my favorite web site, since February 10, 2006. On the one hand, I have seen web communities disappear as their sponsor companies went under financially. On the other hand, I have had a great experience with a wider audience. Today was a case in point. A Yelper (as we call ourselves) organized a day sail on San Francisco Bay. We all sent her our share of the boat rental, and gave her our preferences about what we wanted our experience to be. And she, a person whom I may never have met on the street, made it all happen. I hope that Yelp! is successful, and that it is around for decades to come. Yes, it would be nice to keep those 445 articles being served up on the internet, but even more important to me now is keeping all the connections I have made through this local networking facility.
