Most of the Handheld PCs can be expanded to additionally 32 MB memory. The memory is so cheap, for example you can get 32 MB memory for IBM Workpad Z50 at eBay for less than $20. But Windows CE has the limitation of maximum 16 MB for the Storage Memory. You could use external storage such as CompactFlash cards and Microdrives but this consumes extra battery power. While the other 32 MB Program Momory on your system is a waste. In normal situation, less than 10 MB are used. That means after expanding memory, there is over 20 MB Program Memory you could never used. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

This program, fileMem, is designed to take advantage of that by moving files from Storage Memory to Program Memory, and swap them back when you need them. This virtually increases the Storage Memory to another extra 20 MB. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

Notice that, just like other files in Storage Memory, the power interrupt will cause the file lost. Also the normal backup/restore procedure will do nothing about the files you stored in the Program Memory by this program. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
