Q: What versions of Outlook does Chilton Preview support? A: Chilton Preview supports Outlook 97, 98, 2000, 2002 (XP), and 2003. No versions of Outlook Express are supported. Q: Can Chilton Preview be left off when Outlook starts up? A:This was a feature of prior versions of Chilton Preview but had to be removed to prevent conflicts with Outlook. No effort has been made to put the feature back in. Q: Why doesn't Chilton Preview use Ctrl+C to copy text to the clipboard? A: Ctrl+C in Chilton Preview is not supported in Outlook 97 because of how Outlook 97 handles the Ctrl+C command. This has been corrected by Microsoft in Outlook 98. In Outlook 97 you can use Outlook's Edit | Copy menu item or Chilton Preview's Copy menu item to copy text from the preview. In Outlook 98, you can use Ctrl+C and Chilton Preview's Copy menu item. Q: Why doesn't Chilton Preview remove the new email icon when I mark a message as read? A: Chilton Preview was built using Microsoft's Messaging API (MAPI). Unfortunately, there is no method in MAPI that allows the icon to be removed so this feature cannot be supported. If someone knows of a way, please let me know. Q: Why can't I get Chilton Preview to work under Outlook XP? A: If you are using Outlook XP and can't get Chilton
Preview to work, Q: How big of a message does Chilton Preview handle? A: For non-Rich Text display, there is not a known message size limit. The limit for Rich Text messages is somewhere around 30-35k. If a Rich Text displayed message exceeds this limit, the first 30-35k of the message is displayed as expected. This (hopefully) will be addressed in a future version. Q: Why do certain versions of Chilton Preview cause an "Unable to display folder" error message when changing folders? A: There have been at least two releases of Chilton Preview that cause this problem with folders that are sorted by the Received field in Ascending order (so that the newest messages are at the bottom of the list). This problem has been corrected (once and for all, hopefully) with version 1.01. Q: With previous versions of Chilton Preview, the preview window was visible in the Task and Contact folders but is not anymore. What gives? A: With Version 1.0, the default folders for Chilton Preview are limited to mail messages. However, there are minor configuration changes you can make to Chilton Preview that will return the preview window to the Task and Contact folders. Open the file ChiltonP.ecf with a text editor and follow the instructions. Make sure you save your changes and reinstall Chilton Preview with the same ChiltonP.ecf file for the changes to take effect. |
