Jonathan’s Page: Counters and Clocks
(GeoPlus: Clocks)

There’s not really much source code to consider with Counters and Clocks, especially with the GeoCities ones. For setting up a counter and/or clock, all you need to do is to do the following.

Naturally there are other places such as Internet Count et al., that also provide web counter and/or clock services–while admitting I do use a couple non-GeoCities counters, at least if your page is up, the counter’s going to be up.

While you’re at it, don’t forget to put in a GeoLink back to GeoCities.

Web Counter Clock (GeoPlus only)
Source Code
  1. Use some oddball web editor. Either:
    1. Type in <img src="/cgi-bin/counter"> if your editor can take in HTML straight, or
    2. Ask the web editor to load the image http://geocities.datacellar.net/cgi-bin/counter and if it asks you, keep it on the server.
  2. If you want to “acid test” it, just upload your page, look at it online, and reload it once.
  3. Say uh-oh if it refuses to count.

The documentation GeoCities has already put out regarding the clocks you can use with GeoPlus are better than anything I could do.

  1. Go to GeoPlus Manager.
  2. Select CGI Library.
  3. Select any three of the following ‘clocks’:
    1. Clock
    2. Countdown to Year 2000
    3. Countdown
  4. Follow the better instructions!
