Arriving at the Testing Center

When you arrive at the Testing Center, make yourself known to the Administrator immediately - even if you have arrived early. The Administrator may ask you to fill out a form, and/or sign a non-disclosure agreement, then checks your identification (don't forget - two forms, one with a picture and both with your signature!), takes your belongings and stores them securely somewhere, then leads you to the exam computer.

Once you're at the computer, take a few seconds to settle in. Your clock has not yet started ticking, so don't worry too much about time just yet. There will be a short form you will be asked to fill out, which is used for certificates - make sure you enter the right details! It asks for name, address, phone etc, and if you have taken a MOUS exam before. There is also a field which asks for your PIN, but this is not currently used so just ignore it.

Once you click the 'OK' button, an information screen will appear. This tells you the number of questions and duration of the exam. Remember that you get 25 minutes to read instructions.

After you've read through this screen, click OK. An exam tutorial will show, with test-taking tips. Make sure you read them carefully! You can only see this tutorial once.

After this, you're into the real thing. Now there's no going back...

If you arrived late at the testing center, it is up to the testing center to decide what happens. Most will tell you that you have failed the exam, and/or will not give you a refund. You should ask to talk to the ATC Administrator if you had good cause to be late.

What's this non-disclosure thing?

A Non-Disclosure Agreement (or NDA, as it is sometimes referred to) is a legal contract between the Nivo and the examinee, stating that the candidate will not discuss what they see in the exam. This is to make sure you don't tell anyone else, who could go off and cheat. In the new exam format, you are required to accept an NDA before you can begin the exam. Before then, some ATCs required you to sign one before you could start.
