Chemical lightstick generate light by the reaction of chemical
species . The best example of chemiluminescence in nature is
FIREFLY. Generally, the mechanism of chemiluminescence is
to transform the energy generated by the chemical reaction into
light energy instead of thermal energy. So the lightstick will not
burn or spark . In some occassions, such as, mine channel ,
confined space with burnable gas or room with the possibility of
gas leakage, using lightstick as illumination source is the only
safe alternative.
With the progress in chemical light technology in recent years ,
the duration time can last for hours long. Plus its small volume
and light weight, it can be applied in more and more fields.
Normal lightstick have double containers structure. The outer
container is made of plastics while the inner container is made
of glass. The glass ampoule contains solution A. Solution
B exists between the ampoule and plastics container. When
bending the lightstick, the glass ampoule breaks at the
same time. The two solution mix and chemical reaction occurs
and generate light.
Because of the air-tight sealing of the outer plastics container ,
the chemicals within the lightstick will not leak out. This way
make the lightstick can work at any weather condition.
Even under the deep sea, the lightstick can perform as usual .
Undoubtedly, with so many outstanding advantages,
the lightstick will play a unprecedentedly important role in the
field of illumination.
