Phuket Island

I was in Singapore and Thailand from Jan. 17 through Feb. 1, 1998.  My friend Ting went home to visit her parents and invited me to come along!  So of course I jumped at the chance.  We spent 5 days on Phuket Island (pronounced "Poo-ket"), Thailand and had a great time!

Here are some unsorted pictures that are actually captures from my video camera.   I was pretty surprised at the quality!  You can click on an image to get a larger version of the picture.

The Singapore pictures are here.

You can find more information on Phuket at www.phuket.com.

Harvesting birds' nests
We visited a cave in the Pee Pee Islands where they harvest swallow nests (in the guide's hand), which the Chinese eat!  It is considered a very special delicacy!  Ting's parents were kind enough to let me try some (it is VERY expensive!), but my American pallete couldn't handle the thought of eating bird saliva.  Chinese love it though!
Ting splashes me!
Hey, don't get the camera wet, Ting!  So I give the camera to her...
