Lotus
Domino - was the
first server that I ran on a Windows NT 4.0 box. Much
touted as a winner and so on. Very easy to install and
configure and develop apps on but loses out on features
to IIS 4.0. Currently I'm the webmaster for a Extranet
running on Domino. IIS - took a look at 2.0 and decided it was just another plain vanilla HTTP daemon.IIS 3.0 with ASP turned out to be a winner though. Watch out for IIS 4.0 which is currently in Beta. I'm currently running an Intranet on IIS 3.0 Netscape FastTrack - is a good desktop web server, much better than PWS from Microsoft. Havent yet checked out Suitespot though. I think Suitespot is a bad idea on NT boxes.
Started experimenting with shareware proxies and migrated to Microsoft Proxy 1.0. Currently running a Proxy on a dialup connection. Planning to migrate to 2.0 very soon. |
Turbo Pascal - was my first programming language. I
started with 3.0 and ended with 4.0. The first major
program I wrote took a document as input and produced a
concordance to text. A program I wrote for Inventory
control is probably alive and kicking (!!) somewhere in
Bangalore. JAVA - got hooked on to it very early. Developed a few applets for fun. Ended up coding a Interactive CBT on Delphi 2.0. Don't consider myself a JAVA guru though. Hope to develop something big whenever it stabilizes. Active Server Pages - IIS 3.0 with ASP made life easier for webmasters running IIS. I'm currently in the process of redoing my Intranet site with ASP. Visual Interdev I discovered is a good tool for ASP scripting. CGI certainly has a competitor in ASP. Visual Basic 5.0 - Have written quite a few good progs with VB 4.0. I'm trying to develop ActiveX controls and Active Server Components with VB 5.0. |

Favorite Books | Installshield - believe that a good product also has to be properly packaged. IS does a good job of installation and packaging | ||||
J.D Salinger's Books
- I have read
all of J.D's books. My favorites are 'Catcher in the Rye'
and 'Raise High the Roof Beam Carpenters'. All of his
short stories are good too. Richard Bach - 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull' is one of my all time favorites. I collect all books written by Bach. Robert M Pirsig - Not what you call light reading I guess but his latest book "Lila" is simply great. Surely a fascinating writer. |
Am a frequent and compulsive visitor to hotwired's chat. I started with hotwired and tried all the other HTML chat sites which were either boring or full of smut. I like good clean chat. I also have netmeeting and love to talk to people from all over the world |

Pink
Floyd - Great
lyrics. My favorite song is "Paranoid Eyes"
from The Final Cut Bob Dylan - Simply magic when you're feeling down. The song that I like best is "Love Minus Zero - No Limit" Chris Rea - Great rhythym sound and vocals. The one that I fell for is the song which goes "I can hear your Heartbeat ..." |
