I'm trying to locate the discography of a group of about five or six musicians playing Andean folk music on the streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, in August of 1991. I know they had at least one CD (because I had it until I loaned it away). They called themselves "Markahausa" or something like that. Does anyone have any information on this group?
Thank you very much.

To Whom it May Concern:
Thank you for your very informative webpage! I am soon to graduate from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with my doctorate in Music Composition and Theory. I am also quite active as a concert pianist, and have made it a specialty of mine to play the music of South American composers in classical music, especially those who exhibit influences from Andean folk music. My interest stems from childhood as my mother is Peruvian born and we speak Spanish at home (but no Quechua). I would be very interested in finding out about the availability of lessons in Andean music on the many different instruments -- I have very advanced training and a rather active career already in music, but would love to seriously devote several years of my time in lessons to become proficient in Andean music. I am willing to relocate for a good teacher, and would be comfortable living in South America as I have traveled there rather extensively already. Can you help me or otherwise provide advice about how to find a teacher (or teachers)? Thank you for your help.
Sincerely yours,
Gabriela Lena Frank

Actually I heared this CD this week for the first time (I never listened to it during the last 10 years) and the magic of this music hit me like a hammer. I really love it.

I wonder if you can help me out. I have two tapes from a group called Tumi. I remember they came here to New Zealand years ago wandering around the streets playing there music, selling these tapes as well as clothing. The tapes are named as follows:-

2. Tumi and Huanuy Mayta Traditional Andean Music RD246
I want to know if these are obtainable on CD and wish to purchase them to play in my car, or if not can you put me onto somebody else that can help.
Hope to hear from you soon.
