Snugg's Diary
Why a diary you ask? Well, I decided today that things happen to me everyday, that at the time I find them quite irritating, but then later they seem funny. Things such as the time my two and a half year old (she's now 4) decided to take a bunch of lolly pops out of the wrappers and then lick each one and stick them to my kitchen cabinets. That was truly a mess and a pain to clean all of the sticky stuff off of the cabinets, but I had to laugh. Then there was the time that I had fixed all four kids lunch, they were sitting at the kitchen table eating, and I ran upstairs to put some clothes away. I was coming down the stairs to hear them all laughing uncontrollably. I walked into the kitchen and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I knew something was wrong because they all stopped laughing as soon as I appeared. I went into the living room and sneaked back when they began laughing again. When I peeked around the corner I caught them all looking up at the ceiling as they laughed. I looked up and it was all I could do to keep from laughing myself, but at the same time I was furious about the mess. They had been throwing macaroni and cheese up at the ceiling and watching it stick! Anyway, things like these are the reason I decided to keep a diary today. If nothing else at least one other person might get a good laugh.

Today was pretty quiet with one exception. Emalie, my four year old daughter decided to display her artistic talents. Unfortunately she chose to do so on the kitchen wall. To make matters worse, or maybe even better, she didn't use crayons or anything so normal. Instead, she finger painted a 2 square foot area of the wall with a jar of peanutbutter.

I found dog food in the dryer today!!! *UGH* What a mess! Some in the washer too. I guess someone had some in their pockets. Great thing happened today...I got a program to create my own art! Watch out cyberworld!

EASTER! Did your kids wake you up extra early today? Chloe (2) woke up at two in the morning and refused to go back to bed until sometime after five. The next thing I knew I my five year old was shaking me awake saying "Sleep's over-rated!" Do you think this was his idea? Definately not. It wasn't all that early, already a few minutes after nine, but the kids weren't the ones that decided it was time to get up. Phin, my husband, decided he couldn't stand the anticipation of seeing their excited faces any longer, so he woke them all up! We made it through the day without any major happenings, and only a few arguments about how much candy everyone could eat. I'm glad it will be another year before I see that many eggs in one day!

Monday, March 31, 1997

I found Emalie in my bed hiding under the blankets. She was suppose to be watching a video. Why was she under the blankets with just her feet sticking out the wrong end? Probably because she had several pieces of chocolate and two hard boiled eggs under there keeping her company! It's always nice to have a bed full of colored egg shells. Does the fun end there? NO! Lunch time and a new loaf of bread is missing! Chloe has developed this fettish for bread lately. Where did she lead me to when I asked for the bread? Straight to her bedroom in the bottom drawer of her dresser! She had cleared a nice spot and placed the bread there. At least I can say it was still a full loaf, just a little too smashed to be considered new!

When I got home from work this morning I found Phin on the couch, and my bed was taken over by the three little ones. Somehow I managed to wiggle myself in and get a few hours of sleep.

Wednesday, April 2, 1997

There weren't any major happenings during the day, so I guess the disaster I found when I got home from work was suppose to compensate for that. There were dishes all over the table, countertop and in the sink. The chocolate that I had made and been destroyed and frosting was dried on the counter. The toothpaste lid was in the sink, with the toothpaste laying on the edge of the sink. The best part of all was downstairs in the family room...someone decided to paint the video cabinet doors with the toothpaste that had obviously later been discarded upstairs in the bathroom!!! *AAAAAaaaargh* Sometimes I wonder if I should have stayed at work.

Thursday, April 3, 1997

I found out this evening that Jordan's T-ball coach is one of my ex-boyfriends. Just what I needed to hear.

Friday, April 4, 1997

Finally, just a boring day without anything of any importance happening!

Saturday, April 5, 1997

I spent some time working on my Mother's Day page today. Jordan had his first T-ball practice of the season and as usual he enjoyed himself.

Sunday, April 6, 1997

The clocks changed *Aaaaaargh* what an adjustment! It appears as if we all slept until noon, but I justify it by saying it's really only 11am. Yes, even the kids slept late! We are experiencing our second day of beautiful weather, and the kids are outside playing. This of course means a house full of tracked in dirt, and arguments over playing in the water under the pretence of watering the dog! Thus mud puddles galore!

Monday, April 7, 1997

Spring Break for Jeremy began today. That means a whole week of a house full of kids, in the mornings anyway. The younger ones still have preschool in the afternoons, which gives me a partial break. The weather is still beautiful and the kids occupied themselves outside again.

Tuesday, April 8, 1997

Once again I come home to a sink and table full of dishes with spaghetti dried on them. I can survive! I have a fieldtrip to chaperone for Jordan tomorrow. A car full of energetic 5 year olds accompanied by a nature walk in a nearby park. This one should be fun! Unfortunately, the temperatures have already started dropping and we are suppose to be in the 30's all day tomorrow. The fieldtrip, however, will not be cancelled.

Wednesday, April 9, 1997

The field trip with Jordan's class went well. We learned all kinds of things about the Native Americans that resided in our area along the river.

Thursday, April 10, 1997

I received my evaluation at work today. The evaluation was good, the raise, however, was the pits. It won't even cover the increase in my mortgage! I'd like to find a new job, but it is difficult to find one that allows me to work evenings so that I don't have child care expenses. It is especially hard to find one that pays even better than the one I already have. I woke up this morning with a horrible cold. I can't breath, cough and sneeze constantly.

Friday, April 11, 1997

Emalie woke up today and her right eye was red and puffy. She said she fell and hit her eye on the table last night while I was at work. Jordan corrected her and said that she was on top of the television jumping off and lost her balance and hit her eye on the coffee table. I've been working on some more art for my page. What I'd really like is a scanner, that's the next thing on my list.

Saturday, April 12, 1997

I didn't get home from work until 6am today. My brother, who was suppose to relieve me at 1:30am calls at midnight and says his car won't start. So not only am I sick, but now I am sick and stuck at work until 6am. I have to go to the grocery store on my way home. I end up getting in bed at 7:45am after I put the groceries away. The kids wake me up at 12:15 to fix sausage gravy. Luckily, Phin had started fixing the biscuits and browning the sausage. I go back to bed at 2pm and sleep until 5pm. Emalie's eye is now black, actually a very deep purple. Tomorrow is Emalie's birthday and my parents call to take us all out to dinner for her birthday. My mother got her a "Tickle Me Elmo" which she is deathly afraid of for the first hour. Finally, after watching Chloe and Jordan play with it she decides that she wants to keep it.

Saturday, April 19, 1997

I can't believe I went the whole week without writing. It has been a pretty busy week. I stayed up most of the night, well, Tuesday morning I got to bed at 5am after I finished our taxes. It was worth losing sleep since we are getting a refund. Tuesday was rough since I didn't get much sleep. Nothing else much happened all week. I didn't get home from work until 7am this morning. The money is nice though. Jordan was in a baseball parade today for opening day. He enjoyed himself. Unfortunately that meant that I didn't get in bed until 11 this morning. Somehow I managed to sleep through his 4pm t-ball game, he almost did too. Phin had a yard sale today. He didn't do to bad. I guess everyone that stopped by made out, he just wanted to get rid of things so they pretty much paid what they wanted to. I think he had fun doing it though, and who can blame him for wanting to get rid of the stuff. We have a houseful of unwanted, and not needed toys and baby things. Having 4 kids requires the ability to accumulate junk.

Sunday, April 20, 1997

We took the three youngest kids today and went to Skyline and ventured through the woods for awhile. Phin caught a couple of crayfish to show to the kids. The youngest, Chloe, was the only one that would dare to hold one. She took it in her little hand and threw it promptly back into the water. We then went by my sister-in-law's house and visited and had dinner. Finally, we returned home about 10:30pm. I forgot to mention before that I got all of my hair cut off on Thursday. It is now cut in a shoulder-length bob, with bangs, and straightened. I look like I'm 10 years old. What the heck it's a nice change.

Thursday, April 24, 1997

I know I haven't been writing here as much as I should, but I've been working on my awards page and making awards. I haven't even been chatting. I've been fighting the urge to chat and looking at everyones' homepages. I'm having fun! I have to work all night Friday night again. I won't get off work until 6am Saturday morning. Home by 6:30am and then Jordan has to be at his t-ball game at 9am. It should be a fun weekend. I found out yesterday that my brother-in-law is coming to visit for a couple of weeks the beginning of May. He is bringing his girlfriend with him. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to clean up the house one more time before he arrives. To top it off Phin's friend who is stationed in Japan will be here also. I really didn't want to spend the next two weekends working on the house.

Sunday, May 4, 1997

I have finally finished my awards page and have found myself creating pages for each of my kids. Make sure you visit them. I created the background for the three younger ones. The oldest designed his page and of course didn't want a background that I had created. I have to be proud of him though because the writing is all his own. I just helped with the HTML/typing. I've been making a few adjustments to my page. I have added a guided tour and a table of contents hoping that it will make for easier viewing. Now...well, I'll just try to keep up with this journal which has been difficult since I have been working overtime. Spent most of the day today cleaning house. *fun, fun, fun*

Thursday, May 29, 1997

I guess I've neglected writing in here for quite some time. I've been busy working on my kids page. If you get a chance why don't you visit. 4 Kids Land of Enchantment
About 2 weeks ago Chloe glued the back of her calf to her thigh with maple syrup. I had to soak her for about 5 minutes just so that she could walk again. This past Memorial Day Weekend we went camping and to the amusement park that we have season passes at. Everyone had a great time. Today was the last day of school for Jordan and Emalie and they had a musical program. It was quite amusing. Anyways, got to get to bed, all four kids have dentist appointments tomorrow so it will be a hectic day.

Sunday, June 8, 1997

We went out yesterday and got Phin's birthday present. I tried to talk him into getting a new computer and a scanner/printer/copier. He got what he wanted...a lawn mower. Well, at least we saved money.
Today we went to the tatoo parlor. I was suppose to get a tatoo, which I've wanted for years. Phin got a tatoo of a dolphin wearing sunglasses and drinking a zombie. They didn't have what I wanted, so I'm going back today with a picture of what I want. Hopefully, they will be able to do it. Sometime we'll get pictures of the tatoos and scan them and have them on our pages. Who knows when that will be.

Tuesday, June 10, 1997

Today was Phin's Birthday. Happy Birthday Phin! I finally got my tatoo today. I didn't get the one I put in the other entry. I decided to go smaller. I got the initial of my first name in script writing with a small yellow rose next to it. I was so nervous I was sweating. Everyone had told me how much it hurt and I was worried about not moving while it was being done. Everything went fine, and I really didn't think it hurt. It burns a little afterwards, like a paper cut would, but nothing more than that.

Thursday, June 12, 1997

Today went great! Jeremy, our 12 year old came home today with a plaque and a certificate. He is in the Principal's Club at school and finished his 6th grade year with a 95.7% gpa! We're so proud of him! Way to go Jeremy!!! Jordan, the 5 year old, had a t-ball game tonight and hit a triple. The ball made it to the outfield on the fly! He also got an out! He is having so much fun this spring in t-ball, all he wants to do is practice and play. The smile never leaves his face regardless of what happens while he's on the field.

Saturday, June 14, 1997

Yippeeeeee! I got a card in the mail today saying that my poem "Eternity" was selected as a semifinalist in The Poetry Guilds poetry contest. I had to sign a release so that they could publish it, but of course I retain the copyright. I'm so excited.

Sunday, June 15, 1997

Father's Day! What did Phin get for breakfast? He let Jordan decide that, and of course we had Jordan's favorite...Sausage gravy with biscuits. What did Phin do all day? He cleaned and rearranged the Laundry room/office. What did he get for Father's Day? Well, a couple of email cards and then of course his lawn mower and tatoo were a combination birthday/father's day gift. What did Phin get for dinner? Hotdogs, homemade french fries, and a vegetable medly. His dinner choice...I of course voted to bypass the cooking and take him out, but he chose the hotdogs. Go figure! What else did we do today? Besides being on the computer, we watched the movie Forever Young. I think that's the third or fourth time we've seen it, but we watched it again. Tomorrow is Jeremy's Last Day of School, and beginning Tuesday I'll have all 4 kids at home everyday all day. Any suggestions on keeping them occupied? Email me please! I need all the help I can get! Don't say video games or TV, I know there has to be something more constructive for them to do. I'm wondering how long before I start hearing "MOM, I'M BORED" "MOM, THERE'S NOTHING TO DO". Should I take bets on how long it will take for one of those sentences to be said? I'll keep you posted!

Wednesday, June 18, 1997

Chloe was up all night sick. I think I finally got to sleep at 6am and got up at 9:45am. Makes life rough when you are dragging from lack of sleep. The humidity was unbearable today. Had to take a cold shower just to feel human again. We had major thunder storms pass through and the recycle bin for our recyclable trash floated away never to be seen again. We also had a tornado watch for about 5 hours. It cooled things down for awhile, but that's of little help with the humidity still so high. Last night at work we had a fire alarm...false. Those things keep me on my toes. It creates quite a bit of writing, explanations to everyone that works the day shift. I can at least say that I survived the day, even if I am frazzled.

Sunday, June 22, 1997

I spent Thursday and Friday sick. Went to the Emergency Room Friday because I thought I was dying. They have me scheduled for an Ultrasound tomorrow morning to see if my gallbladder is messed up. I don't think so. Last night Phin and I went to dinner with Emalie and Jordan. Jeremy was at his mother's house and Chloe was at my mother's house. We had finished eating and the waiter asked if we wanted to take the leftovers home. We said yes. The waiter started picking up plates, realized he couldn't carry them all, sat Phin's plate on the table and the reached down and picked Phin's leftover piece of chicken up with his fingers and placed it on my plate, then placed Phin's empty plate under mine. We just sat and looked at each other, too astonished to say anything. I don't think either of us have ever been in a restaurant and witnessed a waiter or waitress picking food up with their fingers. Needless to say the dog enjoyed the chicken and we had a good laugh. Today my neice came over to visit. Somehow we ended up at Chuck E. Cheeses with 4 kids ages 5 and under. What a nightmare, especially when it came time to cash in those tickets they got from the games. Try explaining to them why 30 tickets will not buy a remote control car or something else worth more tickets than anyone has ever collected.

Sunday, June 29, 1997

We finally got a scanner! Actually Scanner/copier/printer. :) HP OfficeJet Pro 1150C. Does a remarkable job. Now you can see Phin's and my tatoos.
Tatoos are right here! We just threw our legs up on the scanner and there ya have it, instant tatoo pictures on the computer. Phin couldn't stand there like that long enough so we actually put his leg on the thing, printed a copy and then scanned the picture that the printer had printed.
