I find that Tom Waits is one of the most gifted and original artists of the past fifty years. My first experience with Waits was about 6 years ago, when I at my uncles house listened to Small Change. I was imediately caught. Since then I have bought all the CD's I can get my hands on. I have unfortunately never been to a Waits concert, as there has not been any, here in Denmark.

15 yrs. a lover of Tom Waits and he is my most appreciated writer, composer, speaker and singer. What I miss, however, is another Anthology (on CD please) or a Saturday Night, or Nighthawks at the Diner. We followers need also to have some meloncholy, romantic Tom Waits to share our philosophy. The first time I heard Tom Waits was in school when we were listening to Gavin Bryar´s "Jesus Blood Never failed me yet" where Tom Waits gives a powerful performance (to say the least). And after that I bought "Small Change", and as I was listening to that album I realized that I for the first time in my life could in some strange way relate to the drunken poets words. He turned my musical world upside down, he awoke feelings inside of me that I didn´t think music could awake. I felt asthough I had had a revelation. After that started buying records with Tom Waits, and now I got six records: "Small Change", "Blue Valentine", "Heartattack and Vine", "Rain Dogs", "Bone Machine" and of course "Mule Variations". I have the opinion that Tom Waits is the greatest poet since Shakespeare. Tom Waits is God. ......goodfella@metallica.com

tom waits is like the bible of mediocrity when you pick it up you are lifted to new heights of averageness i can't say i love him... but if he weren't there we'd have a buncha freaks and boring assholes with no one to use as a yardstick for how bad the rest of the music is... i can't say that if he weren't there everyone else would bore me... but... tom waits makes us feel what we did when we were drunk and in the pits whether we were twelve or 24 he was 7 up YOURS! ......kevin_anderson_punk@yahoo.com
