Legoland Avenue has always been the complement of Legoland Boulevard and its towering buildings. The town homes and shops may be supplements, but do contribute valuable services to the city. Legoland Plaza originated as a few shops along Legoland Boulevard. In 1988 the shops were demolished and the plaza was built. Tenants have changed over the years, but the plaza has always provided a supermarket to the downtown, and since 1992 Persons Drug has furnished a pharmacy. In 1992 an awning was added to shield consumers from the elements while walking from shop to shop.
