For One
Who Catches Images on Film
And as so rarely
happens in this life
I met a man
who brings to me such light
That he could
lead my demons from the dark
And after
he'd exposed them to my sight
Had shown
me views much pleasanter to see:
The beauty
of a world new-framed by love.
I met a man
who brings to me such love
So as to fill
my heart and fill my life
With visions
of a world I longed to see
A vista bathed
in harmony and light
A place where
I was safe to face the sight
Of fears that
had developed in the dark.
This artisan
has taught me that the dark
Is just as
needful to me as is love
And hiding
it away out from my sight
Could keep
from me the contrast that my life
Would need
to judge the value of the light
If that were
all that I would let me see.
He showed me
things I would not choose to see
And led me
swiftly, sagely through the dark
And brought
me surely, safely back to light
Then loosed
in me the thing that I most love:
My need to
share the words that are my life--
A gift that
forms the focus of my sight.
Sad irony that
he who freed my sight
Has now become
a man who cannot see
As well as
he needs so to live his life
And roam a
world unshuttered by the dark
That waits
to take the thing he does most love:
To capture
essences expressed as light.
And I would
give to bring him back the light
That gift
to me as precious his sight
And I would
offer all the words I love
If doing so
would only help him see
I fear that
I shall lose him to the dark
But pray that
this won't take him from my life.
I hope to light
a world he may not see
And be his
sight, if needed, in the dark
And teach
him dark and love are part of life.
As once he
came to teach the same to me.
