One Seemingly
Insignificant Act
Do you remember
Wednesday
when you reached across a narrow space
and your eyes glanced into my face
for but the briefest space of time--
just long enough to note
that there was acquiescence in my smile?
You took the
body which was mine
and drew it closer to your own
and in your hand it would become
a ballerina
partnered with you
in a pas de deux
of your design.
I watched intently
as the touch
of your fine fingers
brought a sudden rush of fluid
which marked the plain material
where your hand had come to rest.
You toyed with
it a moment more
then laid this borrowed body down,
returning it too soon into my care.
And while
I was so glad
to have it back again,
I was, you know, as pleased to share.
I do not think you knowingly
set out that day to seduce me
by borrowing my brand new pen
But in the end
that is exactly what you did.
