Sandi Martinho is the artist behind these exceptional dolls. She makes polymer clay one of a kind and limited edition porcelain. Each of her creations is a portrait or a caricature of someone she knows. Most of her ideas come from family members. Sandi has always drawn and painted and did some sculpting when she was younger. In 1989 she took a doll making class to learn reproduction doll making. In 1992 Sandi opened a doll shop in Tulare, California. She taught porcelain doll classes, sold green ware and sold collector dolls. In 1996 Sandi closed her shop. At this time she sold a couple of her original porcelain dolls on a shopping network. These days you will find Sandi and her husband living a quiet life in the outskirts of Tulare. There she does her sculpting while her husband Augie gardens and raises chickens. Sandi likes doing the small caricatures the best and especially the elderly. She would love to hear from other doll people whether they are makers, collectors or just love dolls. You may contact her by emailing nanni@lightspeed.net, by writing her at 1399 North West Street Tulare, California 93274 or phoning her at (559)687-0556
