Honey's Poetry Page
Poetry has long been a passion of mine. As a very young child, I would make things rhyme, and act poems out to entertain my family. Later, in my adolescent days, I actually thought I would become a famous poet some day. I became a teenager and my friends would call on me to write a verse for them to give to their "love" of the week. I write a verse now and then these days just to entertain myself, and for special events and people in my life.
I wrote this for my sister several years ago
Here is some of the poetry that has inspired me. A collection of James Whitcomb Riley is especially dear to me, since he is a distant cousin of mine, and I grew up hearing his verses from my mother. She would read from his works as she would read to us from the Bible. A book of his poems was ever present in our home.
A Tale of The Airly Days
Little Orphant Annie
Her Beautiful Eyes
With Her Face Between His Hands
When The Frost is on the Punkin
Lost Love
Raggety Man
Through Sleepy Land
An Old Sweetheart of Mine
I learned recently that James Whitcomb Riley had a life that was never talked of in the past. He was a bachelor his whole life, but he had a very special lady friend. Here is a small collection of his letters to her.
