Which Way is Out?
by: Len Clark
6/30/90

Boy, do you know who I am?
Do you know what I can be?
For your life, locked away here
I could hold the key

Do you see this round ball
That I hold in my hand
This could be your future
This may hold your plans

I know this place can steal your soul
And leave your life in hell
So let me tell you this, young man
Learn the game, and play it well

Your path will lead to wealth and fame
And I will be your guide
Your soul, my friend, I must save
And restore your shattered pride

So what say you, boy?
What will the answer be?
Just a simple yes or no
Will decide your destiny

The answer that you seek
Is easy enough, indeed
No, and no, and no again
I won't be consumed by your greed

But, Boy, don't you want
Everything the eye can see
Won't you let me save your life
And guide your destiny

Listen, man, I've seen the souls
Of boys you say you've saved
You put their lives in ruin
And left them for the grave

Can you see what's in my hand?
The future that is so clear
These books, not that basketball
Is the only way out of here

Get out of here, you son-of-a-bitch
Go find some other soul to steal
You failed at finding a boy
Who can't see what's real
