I love all kinds of music, but soft-rock is my favourite. I tune in to CJEZ-FM 97.3 on the radio incessantly
and sing along with all the wonderful love songs they play. Some of my favourite
recording artists are Elton John, Hall & Oates, Barbara Streisand, Bette Midler, Celine Dion,
the Everly Brothers, and Phil Collins. Mozart is my favourite classical composer.
I often search for lyrics on the Internet. I am now in the process of adding some really kewl midis to my home page. :)
My husband, who is a musician (he plays bassoon), taught me how to play the alto recorder which I play mostly for fun. Although I can read
music, I play some pieces by ear. One of my favourite pieces to play, with or without the music in front of me, is the Fugue in C Major by
Johann Sebastian Bach.
I have been using computers for many years and have created over 1000 macros in
Wordperfect 5.1 (a word processor that is still the best no matter what anyone says!). I am keenly interested in anything
related to computers.
A part-time hobby I share with my husband is the art of stained glass making. We have
many suncatchers in our kitchen window. We also created two large panels above our French
doors and just recently crafted two panels which fit into doors over a fireplace for my brother-in-law
and his wife. A colourful hobby for someone named RAINBOW, wouldn't you say? :)
I enjoy reading science fiction, murder mysteries and Perry Mason courtroom dramas.
I broaden my knowledge on a wide range of topics by searching for information from the
Internet. Education is very important to me so it's no surprise that learning is a life-long ambition of mine.
My favourite T.V. programs are the X-Files, Sliders, The Outer Limits, The Simpsons, and Milennium,
but my all-time favourite program is Star Trek (any generation). Click here Star Trek Midi
for the music to my favourite Star Trek theme song or here X-Files Midi for the haunting theme of The X-Files. I have also been known to catch the nature specials on The Learning
Channel.
I am a fantastic cook and also love to bake. My roast beef (cooked in a slow cooker) is so tender it simply falls apart! I make a spectacular lasagna!! I am loved
and adored by the family for my Turkey, my sage and onion stuffing, and my pumpkin pies at Thanksgiving. And...we simply cannot have beef stew without my famous scones! I love baking all kinds of pies including apple, coconut cream, (drool) lemon meringue, and, as stated before, pumpkin! Sorry, but if I am making you hungry, well, c'mon over!
One of my pet peeves is the typos and grammatical errors that abound in print everywhere. Much like
"a flying particle seeks the nearest eye", my eyes are instantly drawn to these mini-horrors. I have always secretly wanted to be an
editor or proofreader since I can spot these little zingers "a mile away". One of the most common mistakes I have seen is the use of
the words "it's" and "its". FOR ALL P O S T E R I T Y, "it's" is a contraction for "it is" while "its" is a possessive pronoun. It's really hard to find its correct usage.
I gain a lot of insight from inspirational quotations I have found, many in Reader's Digest. I hope
to add a page of famous quotes to my home page some day. Speaking of Reader's Digest, I keep submitting little anecdotes to them for
publishing but they haven't tumbled yet to the fact that they keep overlooking an extremely worthy budding writer - ME! (Hehehhe!)
My persona came from the nick that I use when I go to IRC (Internet Relay Chat). I have met many
fascinating people online and have friends all over the world. See if you can find me by clicking on my favourite channel #shangrila. The server is irc.starchat.net which I access through the wonders of MIRC (IRC chat software program).
