Malaga

The old town of Marbella The summer of 1998 my parents, my friend Monika and I spent two wonderful weeks of our holiday in Spain. We stayed at two different places - at each place for one week - right between Malaga and Marbella on Costa del Sol.

The first week we stayed there, we went to Gibraltar one day. It's a British colony right in the southern part of Spain. From there you can take to boat over to Ceuta, a Spanish province in Morocco, Africa. We didn't go there, but I've been there before, and it was great. In Gibraltar we went shopping and I bought a new Walkman, which I love dearly, and I bring it with me almost everywhere I go. A great buy, and it was so chap. Monika and I bought some make up at the Body Shop, because it's so much cheaper at Gibraltar than in Norway and in the rest of Spain.

We also went to Mijas, a little village in the mountains. We had to drive for 1 hour to get there, and it was very warm outside. Mijas is a small village with loads of white houses, and a few years back it was chosen as "the whitest town in Spain". It has lots of small souvenir shops, cafés and restaurants, and one of Spain's well known bull rings.

The days we didn't go on any trips, Monika and I mostly hung around by the pool, swam and sun bathed, while my parents went sightseeing. It was really nice. We didn't spend any time at the beach, though, because we were too lazy to go all the way down there.

It was a great trip, and I'm real happy Monika could join us. The summer of 1999 I might be going to Denmark with my friends - no parents - which is going to be great!
