Diary 113

06-01/02-98

(Monday) Very stressful. So much so that I'm taking tomorrow off. Spent almost the whole evening arguing with Dirk. Finally got our shit together right before it was time for me to go home.

(Tuesday)I was supposed to send Cockroach's stuff, but who has the money? Or the time? I know I don't. He's gonna have to wait until Saturday, at least, when the post office is open.

I picked Dirk up at 8:30 in the morning, and he immediately insisted upon reading the paper and going online to check for new ads looking for roommates, over my protestations that he could do it in the afternoon since I had housework to do anyway. So, I got pissed, especially when he started getting something to eat without asking me, and then proceeded to clean his guitar. When I got mad, he started making snappy little comments that irritated me more. Sometimes I wish I could punch him. Then, he finally started acting like he wanted me around, but I wasn't having any of it. When I reluctantly agreed to smoke a clove outside with him, he started using extreme tactics (i.e. seducing me) to lighten my mood. I admit it, I'm very forgiving when I'm turned-on. All was forgiven, in my book.

That reminds me, Cockroach said that if I dumped Dirk the way I dumped him, Dirk would beat the shit out of me. Asshole!!! Imagine, having such a low opinion of the guy you're "destined to work with". The problem is, he listens to Krisco when Krisco's lying through her teeth. He should know better. When Krisco's own friends think she's delusional, that says something. But Cockroach was always too trusting. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Got my grades, and it was exactly as I suspected. I failed math. And, of course, my mother has this weird sixth sense about these things, so she starts bugging me about my grades as soon as I call her. I didn't tell her what they were, because I needed the car tonight. I was sure she'd call the school herself as soon as she got home from work.

Dirk and I went to his parents' house, expecting to pick up some stuff and be off. Unfortunately, his mother had other plans. She hugged him and started crying, because she'd been so worried. I looked around their townhouse, which was pretty small. At least it didn't look shabby. But really, it was tiny.

So, I left before she got home from work. I went over to Dirk's parents' place (where I left Dirk to go home and cook dinner), and sat around talking to his brother Aaron while Dirk helped his parents organize their stuff. Surprisingly, I enjoyed talking to Aaron. He doesn't have much in the way of respect for Cockroach either. Cockroach told Aaron that he could "start trying to convince him to come up to Virginia to join his (meaning Aaron) band." Hahahaha. Aaron laughed when he told me that, and added, "Needless to say, I haven't started trying to convince him."

I dropped Aaron off at Potomac Mills, since his girlfriend was there. Dirk and I dropped off some of his stuff at Charlie's, then I brought Dirk to a place that was advertising a room for rent. Nice, but kind of steep: they wanted an additional $275 as a security deposit. Dropped Dirk off at home, then went home to face the maelstrom.

It actually wasn't as bad as I expected. The car won't be taken away completely. I just won't be allowed to drive it on the weekdays. This is much better than I expected. I'm also required to get a tutor in Math. The only thing that pissed me off was that my mother threatened to have my job taken away if I didn't dance to her tune. Fuck her. This is not a feminist version of "The Godfather". Her only influence in my job fucking retired last month. I hate her for fucking with my life.

So, I'm going to do the only thing I can: put laxatives in her milk. Hope she likes having the "green apple two-step" for the next month or so.
