Well, practice was an exercise in humiliation. Honestly, I think Dirk's out to prove himself as band leader. I guess he's insecure since I'm paying for the rehearsal space.
We'd just taught Charlie how to play one of our songs, a song that I've known by heart almost since the day it was taught to me. I complained that the tempo was being slowed down too much, so Dirk let me set the tempo so Aaron could follow on drums. After about 15 minutes of false starts, Dirk finally tells me I've been playing the fucking song wrong for the past year and a half. What the fuck? He had to wait until today, in front of everyone to tell me this? Fuck him, and fuck whatever politics he's trying to play. Why the hell couldn't he tell me this a year ago? Now I have to fucking re-learn the song. And he gets the bonus of showing me up in front of everyone.
Anyway, practice was effectively over after that because Dirk tried kiss and make up and I wasn't having any of it...so he got mad, I walked into the smoking room, and smoked for a few minutes. After about 10 minutes, he followed me out, and kissed the top of my head. He agreed to re-teach me the song sometime next week, away from the band, to spare my pride. He's also going to teach me some of the new songs he's written. After that we had a band meeting, that mostly consisted of Dirk trying to convince Aaron to chip in some money for rehearsal space. I'm not going to ask Charlie to chip in, because Dirk's still staying at his house. I'm not that desperate or rude.
Didn't get to send Roachboy's box today. Sorry. I'm also not going to be uploading this entry until Monday or so, because AOL's freaking out on me again. Of course, I'm sure Roachboy sent me a fairly accusatory and offensive e-mail right after midnight. I'm not even going to get to check it until tomorrow, by which time I'll have sent the package.
Katie ditched out on us again. It's not her fault though. She was babysitting, as her mother explained when I called right after practice. It's cool, as long as she remembers that she promised she'd take me over to Charlie's to see Dirk some night(s?) this week. Anyway, we'll definitely get together on Friday.
Anyway, I'm partially at fault, because I said I'd e-mail her, but couldn't sign on, and I told her mother I'd call her at 10:30, to see if she wanted to hang out later in the evening. Unfortunately, I took a nap, and slept until about 11:30. That's when Dirk woke me up wanting to go to 7-11.
We got ice cream, as well as slurpees. Honestly, I don't know why Dirk bothers getting slurpees. He doesn't really like them. I had to restrain myself from buying more of those Doritos 3-D's. I don't know why I like them so much.
My arm doesn't hurt anymore, although my right arm froze up from playing so much today. Dirk's supposed to teach me the new songs (as well as re-teaching me the old song), on Monday.
I had a freaky experience on the way home from dropping Dirk off at Charlie's. The road had a swamp on one side, and the slope of a large hill on the other, lined by trees. The glare of my headlights caught a fox, standing by the side of the road, looking at my car. They look kind of frightening when viewed head-on. Their muzzles aren't apparent, and the lines on either side of their faces make them look like little old men. That thought spooked me, enough so that I turned on the car's interior light and kept glancing at the back seat. I half-expected to see a fox sitting there with it's little old man's face glaring malevolently at me in the rearview mirror.
I'm supposed to get my Hello Kitty Doll tomorrow!
