Diary 129

I'm pretty sure we're gonna keep him.

We interviewed Louie tonight. Amazingly, he really doesn't look as though he's 16. Eager to please, charismatic, and passably attractive. He's part Italian, part Puerto Rican, short cropped hair, friendly face, cute butt. Also fairly well defined muscles, nice smile. And an inch or so shorter than me. Granted, I'm 5'9", so it's not as though he's a midget.

We'll see how well he does at practice tomorrow. He certainly doesn't seem to be the jock loser that Aaron painted him. While he doesn't have much knowledge of older punk, he likes a lot of newer stuff, including a bunch of bands I'd never even heard of.

Charlie was supposed to come with us to interview him, but wasn't home when we went to his place. Aaron came along, however. He doesn't get a vote, because he's not a permanent member of the band, so I don't know why he came along. Perhaps he was bored.

Before I went to pick Dirk up at 7:00, I was driving up Krisco's street, and saw John and his brother Fred walking up the street. I pulled over, offered them a ride. They wanted to know if we could hang out later tonight, but since the evening was being spent on band business, I decided against it. Instead, I dropped them off at a friend's house and admonished John to call me during the week-end, so we could hang out.

After going to Don Pablo's with Louie, we decided to show him the rehearsal space. The mousy-quiet-nice band was there, but they were really obliging about letting us poke around. Then we decided to go to Tower Records.

Fucking traffic was practically standstill. I don't know about you, but I don't think there should be standstill traffic at 11:00 on a Saturday night. Anyway, we got there, and Louie was in ecstasies. Apparently, he's never been exposed to the addiction that is Tower Records. Dirk managed to find the new Dead Boy's CD, Live at CBGB's, for only 10 bucks. Of course, I had to buy it.

Work was special today. Ken was asking me all afternoon about alternative chat sites. I gave him the URL of Webcrawler, the only site I could think of offhand that has free chat rooms. Then he started asking me questions about it. Let's get something straight. I don't do internet chat. I have ICQ, but it's always turned off because I think of it as a nuisance. I haven't chatted online, except for a few friends, since the first 3 months I had internet access. And then, I only chatted in the idiot-friendly AOL chat rooms. So, I have no idea. I told him so. I don't think he really believed me.

Because I promised I would, I am going to put up a link to Ken's Site. I think you guys have the right to read his stuff yourself.

We had a baby shower, complete with games and two kinds of cake. As if the expectant mother and the rest of the office haven't swelled up enough as it is.

And Alex was looking at gay sites online again. Not even bothering to hide it this time. I think he's losing his mind.
