Diary 325

06-29-99

I could quite honestly have skipped this week-end. I wouldn't have minded at all.

Hanging out with Katie was nice, especially after so long. I felt bad, though, because she was so obviously sick. And we didn't get to play pool because there was too many people, which would have cost an insane amount of money. We went to Border's instead, and I bought "Every Woman's Guide to Sexual Fulfillment." I mean, I'm fulfilled, but why the hell not buy the book?

We ran into this girl that we know loosely from Safeway. She's been a cashier there for years. Originally, I think, she was friends (in a semi-disgusted/horrified/fascinated way) with my ex. I showed her my book, and she informed me, with the air of one who's given up, that she only had one bit of advice: vibrators. She's put on a bit of weight over the past year, but the rest has stayed virtually the same. Right down to the makeup.

On Saturday, a feral kitten bit me. It had been hiding under the cars, and it looked so sad....so, silly bugger that I am, I chased it down and tried to pick it up. There is truly something wrong with me. I talked to my doctor, however, and given the fact that rabies has not spread to the feral cat population in the area, and the behavior of the cat before it bit me (it very definitely did not want to be picked up, whereas a rabid cat will display unnatural friendliness and/or rage), I don't need to get the shots. This came as a relief to me.

I know I should be more careful about those things, but I guess I've just got the urge to rescue kittens in my blood. It's how we ended up with seven cats, after all.

I'd be lying if I said that I didn't spend the past couple of days in utter terror. I'm still a little scared, but I promise I've got a backup plan in case I die.

I caught the kitten, and held it — it had an upper respiratory infection, common among feral kittens. It often results in their death. However, my purse and keys were on the ground, no-one was there to help me, and I had been due to pick Dirk up fifteen minutes before. After a very long, long inner debate, I let the kitten go. I still feel horrible about that.

Practice did not go smoothly, mainly due to the fact that Greg is getting far too outspoken about what he wants. Keep in mind, please, that he has yet to give us any money towards the rehearsal space rent. So, this started several arguments that seemed to drag on and on....

Okay, more later. I'm outta time.
