Do you ever wonder what happened to those people you used to follow online? Sure, some of them kept up their sites, rolled them over into blogs. But others just sort of dropped off into the ether. Like me.
I did a couple little private things just to share with my friends, but I always hated this little loose end just hanging out there.
Nearly six years later, where am I? Well, Dirk and I got married a little over a year ago. We moved out of the apartment that was too expensive to rent back in '03 and moved in with some friends. This turned out to be an excellent move as we were able to clean up our credit, save up money, and now we're buying a house. We're actually closing next Thursday.
Our cat, Yahoo, came down with kidney disease, but we were able to treat it for over a year. She passed on Mother's day, 2008. Dirk's paternal grandmother passed just a couple days later. Dirk's brother didn't speak to his family for 2.5 years, then came back. He'd broken up with his crazed girlfriend and gotten involved with another girlfriend who is also crazy, but in a different way. At least she's nice to everyone.
My mother and I get along great now. She owned up to basically being awful to me and apologized, but it was sort of like ashes in my mouth. All I could see was this woman who I loved dearly hurting, and I realized it didn't fix anything. She lives in Florida with her new(ish) husband, and is very happy.
We started the band again and then ended it. Dirk got a job doing videos for a radio talk show host. I'm not a secretary anymore, having bumped my way up to LAN administrator. I'm also mostly amused these days, rather than angry. I'm still a force to be reckoned with when I am angry.
Life just sort of gets in the way, you know? And I used to write this at work when I was a secretary, because I had the mental free space to do this while I was answering phones all day. Every day, these days, I'm busy as hell. But I might post from time to time, and I've got a couple online projects in the works that you might be interested in. I hope you guys are doing okay.
