I wasn't honest about everything that went on yesterday. I forgot to mention that the morning hours were spent in bed, eating Easter Candy (leftover from his party) with Dirk. That lasted until about 2 in the afternoon, when I had to pick Pia up from work. I also made sandwiches out of ranch dressing. I'm not mentioning this for your benefit. I want to remember it.
I got a balloon today!!! I love balloons, and so does Sasha. The last time I had a balloon, I noticed that it was suspended halfway between the ceiling and the ground. When I looked down, I saw that the end of the string was in Sasha's mouth. She'd swallowed half the string, trying to get at the balloon. I like this "Secretary's Week" thing.
I also got flowers and a card from one of my coworkers, Gloria. The flowers are bright pink. I mean ultra pink. Barbie would be shocked if you showed her a dress this bright. It's an entire plant, called "cyclamen". I've never heard of it. The flowers are kind of orchid/pansy-like, while the leaves look like African violet leaves. My cats will probably eat it in a couple days, if it's not poisonous.
The card has a little mousie holding a daisy, and a bluebird. Just thought I'd trot out my "loot", like a kid at Christmas. Not everyone enjoys the perks of being a top-secret receptionist.
Money's really tight right now. I'd give anything to know where they sell those little things you use to roll up pennies. Right now I'm being told they're either at the bank or the dollar store. I'll find out tomorrow.
I was thinking of the lyrics to a Soul Asylum song that seems to fit my relationship with Dirk, in a twisted way. "Once in a while, you get on my nerves/Once in a while, you get what you deserve/I love you 99% of the time/Once in a while, I'm not myself/Once in a while, I think you're someone else." (I realize I'm butchering the lyrics) That about characterized it until recently. We'd be great for the longest time, then we'd have a huge blowup, over nothing.
Some people are so stupid about their computers. I had to cover another top-secret receptionist's desk today (I'm a field-agent, the best kind), and this freak only had 1.48 MB out of a 449 MB hard drive free. None of the programs could initialize!!! He had it loaded up with games and other garbage. Doesn't he realize that this is against policy? Anyway, I had nothing to do, so I was forced to read a trashy romance novel while sitting at his desk.
When I went to the computer lab last night, Dirk was there with his mother, searching for a place to live on the Internet. I almost passed out, because his mother actually looked friendly for once. She even waved! Then she left, and Dirk stayed behind with me.
We're going to meet our potential new drummer tonight. Dirk and I are supposed to drive to his house at 7:30. Wish us luck. We need it.
