Yar harlow~!
Its Valentines day.
Well it Was. its now 3.40am on the
15th..
I hope y'all had a good day. Those who had plans or hopes,
i hope they were fulfilled...for those who just soaked in the rosey atmosphere..hope
it was a pleasant time..and for those who really didnt see the point, yeah
well. okay. Not like its a public holiday or anything like that...
Whut i do on V day? i watched TV!
it was actually quite entertaining coz these daily entertainment programs
each had their little valentine's day fun.. There was this one which had
people bring in stuff that reminded them of painful love experiences, made
them tell their stories, then proceeded to shred, crush, burn and roll
over the stuff with one of those motorized rolling pins (y'know..the kind
they use to flatten out roads..) in individual cleansing rituals. Particularly
poignant was this lady who brought in a wedding gown. Interestingly enough,
mariah carey was on the show as well..and watching her my brain seemed
to scream 'shred! crush! rolling pin her!' But strangely enough,
i found myself grinning at her nauseatingly coy poses. Freaky.
More on tv yesterday..or today actually..i
caught the finals for the Men's figure skating in Nagano just 2 hrs ago.
Twenty-four BeautiFuL young men showing off athletic prowess, and gracefully
to boot.
Ahhhhh....
I fell in love with all but 4 of them (incidentally and
inconsequentially, i think all but 4 fell at least once on the ice too...).
It was marvelous! Especially the french guy, Philippe Candeloro. My goodness.
He was Incredibly sexy. like Seriously. He was play acting the part of
a musketeer and his outfit and the imaginary swordplay ..the footwork,
the cavalier charm..oh the Charm!. He paid homage to the judges, blew kisses
into the audience and practically made gallant love to all the women in
the stadium during his performance, which was to top it all, technically
brilliant as well.
Ahhhhh....*Swoon*
In any case, he got the bronze.
The silver went to Elvis Stojko(canada) who
was hyped to high heaven preceding and during the event itself. He was
supposed to get the gold but then no one knew abt the flu or the groin
injury till after his performance when he was rushed to the hospital. That
he turned up at all should have been enough but the man turned in a silver
medal performance. What else is there to say? I know this is turning out
into some hack report on the event but i just Have to tell about the gold
medalist, Ilia Kulik (russian federation). He was like blonde steel. tall,
cool and expressionless. Quite perfect.
Ahhhhh....*sigh*
The pictures arent up on the net yet.
Maybe later i'll pick up some to paste here.
oh guess what. its already 4am. Its also the last day
of my wk long hols. Darn it.
The second semester starts as of tomorrow and its supposed
to be the tough part of the course. To those who dont exactly know what
im doing down under, a brief summary of my course goes like this. Its called
the Foundations Studies Certificate. Its run by UNSW(uni of new south wales),
only for overseas students(so they can charge like nobody's business),
and is treated like year zero of uni. The syllabus is like the A levels
'cept it doesnt have GP, chinese nor the extra crap teachers like to cram
in for extra security. Also, its only 7mths long, which means that the
lectures and tutorials are pretty strictly fixed, and quite hectic when
it comes to the heavier units. At the end of it all, the minimum average
i need to get to qualify for psychology in UNSW is something like 8.0 out
of 10. Wish me luck.
Here's cheers to school(!), competition, beautiful men and Love~!
And to my friends...i was being mushy
yesterday and composed something quite disgusting. Im not going to put
that up here mainly coz i forgot it but the sentiment remains. And anyway
its the valentines day thing. im allowed to be soppy. :)
The things i want to say can unfortunately
be expressed easily as a heap of clichés.. but gratitude for one's
friends isnt exactly an original idea either.. :
)
Drivel aside, i just want to thank
those of you whom i've known for years. those of you from way back in rosyth..louse,
yen, jo, mona, ruth, angela, and the guys...remember 4F? 6D1? remember
our carpeted cushion haven at the back of the classroom..the odd platypus
thing that zhiwen spawned?...Many more memories bear repeating but the
thing is that we're still friends, old chums through the years. This is
also for those people frm rgs, like joey, cin and frenje...the people who
stick with me. Imagine for yourselves a life without friends you can trust.
Even now as we've all seperated and found new situations and new outfits,
new faces to put on.. I can only hope that after growing up together, we're
strong enough friends to unconditionally accept and support each other
no matter what changes be. And i pray that it is, and i'm so grateful to
God for all of you.
With all my love and gratitude, have
a marvelous year ahead!
