WHIMSICAL POETRY

Weeping Willow
09/2000

Beneath the willow, leaning into its
embrace, mother earth blowing her tears
softly across my face to mingle
with my own

I wonder how it stands, even now
despite it inability to lift its arms
out to the heavens and proclaim
its inner need

I wrap my arms around this comrade
seeking the solace of its tender energies
For I receive none from you, my love
Only more hurt.

I understand the anguish caused by your
own mind's meanderings but can you
comprehend the everlasting damage done
by your words?
