The Moon
I met my lover on the moon
The cold and silver fresh
Arrived I on a stellar loon
Excitement in my flesh
And stood he by a palace side
The moat of stardust full
We walked across the drawbridge wide
Into the courtyard lull
And what should I behold in view
Amidst the sunflowers there?
A table waiting just for two
Beneath a candle's flare
And partook of rare and precious foods
And liquors did we, oh!
And talked of stars in wistful moods
Until the time to go
From there up to a tower room
With windows all around
The Tranquil Sea did roar and boom
Heard high above the ground
My lover and I slipped out of our days
And into the giant bed
We shared in our love in a million of ways
Until all the passion was shed
And as he slept in the crook of my arm
The stars did I seek out
One by its twinkling to keep us from harm
And one to ablute us from doubt
One to make all of the distance seem near
And one more to bind us as one
And when the loon cried through the night, crisp and clear
I slept and the gods made it done.
