“Addiction” is a word society cringes at; an idea society scowls upon. What exactly classifies an addict? Webster’s Dictionary defines an addict as “a person with a habit so strong that he cannot easily give it up” (Kauffman 9). This seems to be a simple definition for most people to understand, so why then is it so hard to determine if Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games, otherwise known as MMORPGs, are in fact addicting? I believe, along with many others, that there is more to the possibility of online game addiction than a dictionary definition can give us.
