In the year of our Lord 1969
A beautiful newborn child was mine.
I named him Michael and sat in awe
Of the wondrous miracle that I saw.
In the year of our Lord 1971
Was born to me my second son.
I named him John and felt twice blest
As they laid him in my arms at rest.
In the year of our Lord 1972
My third son came with eyes so blue.
I named him Edward and couldn't believe
The wonder of this angel received.
In the year of our Lord 1998
Three young men that I would rate
As kind and generous of spirit and heart
In a world of need, will do their part.
In the year of our Lord 1944
The little girl my mother bore
Began a journey filled with strife
On a path to the glory of giving life.

My mama by a window, I had to see her through a screen For I could not be with her. That I too might get sick.. She must have felt such emptiness Such need for her child's touch. She left this world soon after; She was too young to leave us all With nothing but a picture. Of my long departed mama.. I got to see my sons full grown... As I so deeply longed to. The way that they've known me, So I could have sweet memories... Not just a photograph to see. Took a picture with my mind.. Or is that sight within my heart Just a snapshot memory?
PICTURE IN MY MIND
I have a picture in my mind,
They feared if any closer
I was only four or five
I have lived now twice the years
If only I had known my mama
I looked up through that window
