A bit about theory...

In Wicca, there is one great and supreme deity, known as The One or The Spirit. This concept of simply one great being is very difficult to grasp, no matter what religion you are. Even in Christianity this idea has become the Trinity theory of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three in one. Wiccans have a similar belief of the Goddess and God being part of a greater entity. For a little more on how the Goddess and God relate to The One or The Spirit, see the Wiccan creation stories.
Pagan religions, Wicca included, worship and recognise numerous gods and goddesses and it may seem a bit odd to refer to just two. The theory here is this: that and goddesses and it may seem a bit odd to refer to just two. The theory here every god and goddess, humans included (though to a lesser degree) are part of The Goddess and God. This is why many gods and goddess are referred to as, for instance, "the hunter aspect" of the Goddess. Some Wiccans choose to associate just one particular god or goddess with the idea of The God or Goddess and some prefer to associate with specific deities to whom they feel a particular closeness and spiritual connection. In this way, the Wiccan tradition we practise today is new. In older times, "witches" simply recognised the God and Goddess and terms and identities for opposing forces of nature in an attempt to understand them. These gods and goddesses did not exist before the creation of man. It was man, given birth by these forces and energies, that gave them names and identities in order to undertand and acknowledge them.
The Goddess and God, The Old Ones, have been given so many different names in various pantheons of belief that they have been termed The Nameless Ones as well. They have no faces, no appearances. They are everything we wish them to be. They are perfect complements of each other. They are equal in power, just as they are equal in love.
