Aftermath
©1998

My breathing slow and shallow
My thoughts dormant & fallow
But then the breath picks up a bit
And my heart begins a racy ascent

And next I know its "here we go"
Contractions rhythmic nice and slow
Begin an uneven almost painful flow
My insides hot and searing
My pulse will know
My minds not caring

And once again we reach
The pinnacle sublime
We have lost track
of place and time

And the swelling tide
A life-giving force
Has slowly resided
And left only remorse

Chasing My Darkness

Darkness advances
my tears continue to flow
and my world keeps on spinning
spinning out of control
But your there for me
as protector
and savior of my soul

Cause your chasing my darkness
and bringing me light
to illuminate the black madness
and force me to fight
the corners of my mind
where chaos reigns tight

Slowly banishing the heartache
and wiping all tears
For with you at my side
all these many years
theres no reason to succumb
to desperation and fear

Cause your chasing my darkness
and bringing me light
To brighten my thoughts
and send evil aflight

And to love and be loved by you
is to know deep in my soul
That again we're together
two seperate hearts become whole

So as the deep night advances
and shadows approach
My prayer is
You'll continue chasing my darkness
and giving me hope.

Solitude

O blissful silence of the night
Broken only by the sound
of an owls wing in flight

Comfort me
that I might slip into the abyss
Away from the reincarnation
of loves evil mist
And never more be hurt
That silence that lovely lady
Should cloak me in her soft furs

And the light and the dark
Shall again be one
That the weary spirit
Should give up the fight
And not go on
And that blissful solitude
Will welcome me home

A Visit from Xena

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
Leathers were hung by the chimney ,Swords polished with care
In hopes that a legend soon would be there
The children were snoring and wetting there beds
While visions of warlords frightened their heads
And mama in her leather miniskirt and I in my leather chaps
Had just settled our butts in the chairs for a quick nap
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Pulled up the blinds and threw up the sash
The light of the moon on the dirt path below
Gave luster and sheen and an unearthly glow
To a sight for sore eyes which should suddenly appear
A wagon pulled by 8 horses, not silly reindeer.
With a cute little bard, so lively and quick
I knew in a moment it must be Xena’s sidekick.
More rapid than an eagle Xena she came
And she whistled, and shouted, and called her horses by name,
"Now, Argo! now Argo! now Argo and Argo!
On Argo! On Argo! On Argo and Argo!
To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! And please dont you fall!
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the horses they flew
With the wagon full of weapons and Gabrielle too.
And then in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of every horse hoof. As I drew
in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney the bard she came with a bound.
She was dressed in a green sports bra, with little else from head to foot.
And her skin was all dirty and covered with ashes and soot.
A bundle of weapons she had flung on her back
And she looked like an amazon queen with a city to sack.
Her eyes how they twinkled, with her hair full of smut
But her cheeks were as smooth as a newborn’s butt!
And her cute little abs were as tight as could be
And her bellybutton did sparkle and I swear winked at me!
The end of a staff she held tight in her hand
And the ashes and dust encircled her head like a garland
And she had a mischievious face and nice flat belly
That remained taught when she laughed and did not shake like jelly
She was not chubby and plump but she did look a bit like an elf
And I gasped when I saw her in spite of myself
A wink of her eye and a coy twist of her head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
She spoke not a word, but went straight to her work,
And filled all the leathers with trinkets, then turned with a jerk,
And laying a finger aside her cute button nose
And giving a nod, suddenly from the chimney a dust cloud arose
There stood the warrior with raven black hair
Looking most unpleasant to her sidekick dear
Seems she sprang to her horses and gave the team a whistle
And away they all flew like a launched ballistic missile
So here she exclaims since they left her behind and flew out of sight
"Well Gab it looks like we’re stuck here for the night"
