On Earth and the Evolution of Consciousness

Samantha: We seem to have reached a point in our stay on Earth where we are doing immense amounts of damage to the planet, ourselves and the rest of life here. Why? How can we turn this around?

Ibiru:

Humanity has taken the paradigm that it has been acting out for millennia as far as it can go. The notions of mastery and ownership were important during a relatively primitive period of growth, but they are now proving deadly. In addition, the belief that your physical and intellectual selves are the pinnacles of created life has prevented you from accessing greater aspects of your consciousness.

At this point, there are no political or economic solutions to your dilemma. The best, and possibly the only, way through is to shed the old paradigm and replace it with one that recognizes and utilizes your larger reality.

Samantha: Fine, but how?

Ibiru:

There are many ways, depending on individual leanings. For example, if you have been a devoutly religious person, placing faith in an almighty god, conceive of YOURSELF as being that god. When you would normally pray to your father or mother or lord, insert your name there. In other words, your people have become enmeshed in the belief that there is an all-powerful Other to whom you pray and owe your existence. By ritually taking that power of creation back into yourselves you will, over time, learn to hear the wisdom and truths that your larger reality already knows, thereby shifting your paradigm. Some of the results of this will include taking back authority from those people to whom you have given it, and changing the relationships you have with your children.

It is a short step from there to seeing the worlds and all that live on them as also being god. And it is difficult to justify abuse, pollution, greed and ownership of life when all of creation is god. Vertical relationships cease making sense. Militaries lay down their arms.

You see all of the ills your world faces stem from the basic ideas that humans, especially male humans, are the only creations made in the image of what you THINK of as god. It places you in a very precarious position. On the one hand, you then conceive yourselves as being free to do whatever you want to other species, to the planet and to the poorer members of your own species. On the other hand, you are cut off from the comfort, the power and the knowledge of your true place in the world. You have no relations, no family, no knowledge and experience of connection. Those who remind you of this - artists, musicians, writers, mystics, shamans - are summarily dismissed or made into stars to prevent their intuitive understandings of the real nature of things from infecting your societies.

All of this creates a perceived need to fight to become king of the mountain. The rich are terrified that they will not own everything because that is the only immortality they can imagine, and it is what defines their lives. The poor scramble to grab whatever piece of what they think is a very tiny pie, at tremendous cost to themselves.

Change your paradigms and you will change your world. It has happened before. You are capable of shifting your awareness to include a larger self that you presently only dimly imagine.

Samantha: What will happen if we do not do this?

Ibiru:

Things will probably continue on the same path, deteriorating at an accelerating rate, until either you render Earth unfit for present life forms or humanity passes into history, leaving the way open for the emergence of a new sentience. As always, the choice is yours.

Samantha: But what about the thoughts that many have that we will be saved, perhaps by friendly ET's?

Ibiru:

On a larger scale, no life form is permanent. All life is experimental. It is possible that another species may come by and help you out of your present dilemma, but it is unlikely. At some point your people will either have to learn to be conscious and behave accordingly, or the experiment will end. This is not a "reward/punishment" kind of scenario. It is simply fact. If you destroy the oxygen in a room by creating a large enough fire, you will not be able to breathe. If you believe that you only have that room, that nothing outside of that room exists, or that you are under some kind of orders from "on high" to remain in the room, then you will perish. If, on the other hand, you expand your awareness to include the concepts of window, door, outside, and free will you will have a good chance of escaping that fate.

For those looking for a savior, look to yourselves. You have, within you, all the tools you need to break free of the restraints you have been laboring under and create lives that are rich, harmonious and exciting. The choice, as ALWAYS, is yours.

Samantha: It seems that those in a position to make the greatest changes are least likely to do so. The disenfranchised seem powerless to make those changes.

Ibiru:

Those in the economic and political positions to make those changes perceive that they will lose their positions and value if they make them. They are also caught in the tribal notion that anything goes as long as MY immediate family is protected. Very short sighted, I agree. And a holdover from the times when small clans had to fight terrible odds to survive.

This may be difficult to hear, but the disenfranchised are so, partly, by choice. The choice to believe in the world as created by the powerful. The choice to believe that they, themselves, cannot create. The choice to value the rich more highly than they value themselves. The choice to believe that hard work for little pay makes them morally superior to the rich who exploit them. The choice to obey. The choice to follow and create leaders out of those whom they imbue with an aura of sanctity. The choice to believe in gods who, for the benefit of the few, tell the many that their rewards will come after they are dead. The list goes on. And, as time goes by without these beliefs being challenged and changed, the very real threats that the powerful pose become greater and greater.

What I am saying is that, beyond a certain point, you cannot place responsibility for your situations outside of yourselves. It is not the aliens who turn on your TV's, it is not your Pope who makes you believe in a jealous god. It is your fear that governs all of that. Out of fear you do not question your authorities as loudly as they deserve. Out of fear you bend your knees to gods who are not worthy of you. Out of fear you work at deadening jobs for a pittance. Out of fear you do not, one by one, change. And that is the only way change happens.

Samantha: Well that was certainly strongly worded. Ouch. So, how do we, individually, disentangle ourselves from our webs of fear?

Ibiru:

Firstly, by accepting responsibility for everything in your lives - for your beliefs, your actions, and your non-actions, your dreams and hopes and fears. Everything. Secondly, by doing so with humor and compassion. Think of the young child who has to learn to accept responsibility for her actions. It is not easy. There is pain involved, and grief, as you come to terms with your roles in life. Once you have done this you can begin to change your beliefs and your actions in whatever ways are right fro each individual. All I can give you are basic guidelines. You have to fill in all the particulars.

If you choose to do this it will require that you find courage in yourselves that you never knew you had. You will be standing up to everything you have ever believed, about yourselves, the world, god, the rich…

What you will gain will be freedom, greater integration, a living and vibrant world, a chance to evolve to levels of awareness that seem like magic right now…and a deepened sense and awareness of what you and life are really all about.

Samantha: Thank you. I am afraid, I will admit. But I agree with you that it really is the only thing to do at this point. I guess I am also more than a little excited.

Ibiru: Until tomorrow, then.
