The Woods

What a blessing! My wife saw the place before I did, but, like the wonderful Proverbs 31 wife she is, she "saw a field and bought it", knowing full well that I'd love the woods, too!

I'll be posting more or different pictures as I get them. Maybe one day, I'll have beautiful wildlife shots here. The woods has deer, turkeys, turtles, snakes, 'possums, raccoons, rabbits, coyotes, hazelnuts, blackberries, walnuts, hickories, too many squirrels, and so much more to offer. If you'd like to check it out some time, let me know. You can e-mail me at Yahoo.com. For reasons of spam control, I won't hot-link the address, but I, Paul, go by the username, "ognyen".

Trail from the Packard House to the woods. The dark end of the trail is a mulberry archway into the woods. I'll have to get an actual picture of the arch some time. It's kind of neat.

Trail down to the creek. It's a little steeper than it looks.

Near the creek is a campground, complete with fire area, and lots of ready-cut wood.

The creek bed is loaded with fossil-filled rocks.

During the spring, the creek is flowing, but later in the summer, like this, the rocks are very readily browsed.

A patch of cedars (ok, technically junipers) provides a shady escape from the heat.

Another steep trail. It can be seen in the lower right of the photo.

Some trails have luxuries like bridges and stairs.
