Well what can I say? Julie Bell is not only an artist but used to be a bodybuilder as well. She says this is where she gets her appreciation of the human body from and it can be seen in her paintings. She was taught how to draw by her husband, Boris Vallejo, who is also one of the most famous Fantasy artist out there and if you don't know him.... wow where have you been?!!.

Julie's work can mostly be seen on magazine covers, comic covers and comic cards as well as video game covers. She has a special talent for drawing metal objects and/ or combining them with skin (how on earth does she do it?!! I love it!!!). Julie uses models, like her husband and sons, for her paintings but says that all her models "need to know as much as they can about who they're suppose to be".

Her first fantasy painting was 'Creatures of the Woods', which was the beginning of the courier of one of the best. I noticed that she signed this painting with her full name, which she later dropped for the better know 'Julie + date' signature. What I personally found with this painting is that it doesn't have the power and colour of her later pieces, but some how I still love it. It has feeling... one of the things that impress me most when I look at Julie Bell's art. Great lady, amazing artist!!~
