Margaret Wilkinson is a novelist, creative writing tutor and a former editor of the literary magazine Writing Women. Currently she is prose tutor on the MA in creative writing at the University of Northumbria. She also teaches creative writing to undergraduates there, as well as running women's writing workshops at Newcastle University. Her short stories have been published in magazines including Stand and The Printer's Devil. Her first novel Ocean Avenue, was published by Serpent's Tail. She has also written Mothers of Invention: A Creative Writing Workbook, published jointly by Virago and the National Extension College. Recent winner of an Arts Council of England Writers Award, her current novel, Gittel crank, is now being considered for publication via the Maggie Noach Literary Agency.
