Welcome to the Columbia
River Gorge!! This wonderful area lies along the mighty
Columbia River east of Portland, Oregon. The river cuts
thru the heart of the Cascade Mountain Range, exposing
cliffs of basalt that are over 15 million years old. Here
you will find diverse environments and ecosystems, from
old growth rain forest in the west end of the gorge, to
semi-arid desert in the east end--a distance of a mere 50
miles!!! There are over 70 waterfalls in the Gorge on both sides of the river with most on the Oregon side. These are the focus of most of my photography here. |
Here is one of my favorites: Latorell Falls in fall color. |
Elowah Falls pounds the rocks at your feet. You can feel the spray in your face and power of nature in this picture!!!! A short hike from the Warrendale exit parking area (off I-84 west) takes you to the foot of the falls. |
Another view of Latourell Falls in the autumn. |
