October 26, 1998Sexism Is this sexist? "I can't date you," said the man rejecting the woman he just slept with, "my life is too complicated right now." As he got dressed and left her apartment, he thought, "God, she's ugly." Ninety million percent of the population would say "Yes," but not everyone. Some find it perfectly allowable since it shows the cold fixations of men. Now, if it had been a woman being as shallow about appearance, it would be sexist. Women are stereotypically more respective of the entire person. Men, on the other hand, look at the hooters and haunches and call it quits. Would it surprise anyone that it was a woman who told that joke? She's a very caring and receptive person; she points out the truth that all men are lying pigs. And she looks so far beyond the shallowness as well. Is the sarcasm think enough yet to cut with a rusty spork? I just want to know when it was declared illegal to jokingly bash women but still perfectly acceptable to do the same to men. If women really are the gentler sex, let's see it them act that way. I try to look beyond the superficial exteriors of beauty and find the brightness inside, so let's see if women can go beyond the stereotype of the male macho attitude.
