December 2, 1998Difference of Opinions I sent off an application Monday for a study abroad program in Budapest. A lot of my friends had known about this, and the reactions had ranged from utter glee to simian-like indifference. No one really gave a negative opinion of it all, till today. A friend actually sarcastically asked "Why would you want to go to Budapest?" This is an amazing relief actually. It bothered me that no had resentment or bad feelings about this action. It was all going a little too perfect. Part of it is sheer paranoia. If everyone started smiling at me and saying how good it would be if I did something, I would expect they were trying to kill me. Reality always has its objectors. It makes it more real that way. It goes back to the old duality, you can't know good without first knowing the bad. With this application, I had actually been getting rather scared since everyone thought it was a good idea. I thank the friend who proved that it was not some universal too good to be true.
