Parental Duties

I was watching Dateline tonight. Evidently, some shop teacher was using an electrical generator to shock students if they wanted to avoid quizzes or detention. Well, it turned out that he had gotten away with it for twenty years. One kid finally turned him in.

Now, what I find hilarious is the excuses parents and administration gave for the students not turning the shocking teacher in. These idiots claimed that of course they wouldn't report him-- he was bribing them. Hey, wait a minute. Shouldn't these kids be instilled with the value of knowing right from wrong? Shouldn't parents and teachers (non-electrical ones) have taught these kids that nothing erases a wrong? Just because you are bribed doesn't clear you of the guilt. The parents obviously know this; they are accusing their kids of not knowing better. Why didn't they pass it on?

Face it, these parents are idiots.
